Rubbish

Sir,—Before Paparua decides on the paper bag rubbish collection it should consider a few points. Ratepay ers will have to pay for theii paper bags and costs will not remain static. They are not flyproof. There is a gap between lid and bag easily accessible to flies. 1 have a friend in Alexandra and she has to empty her hot ashes into a tin and. when cold, tip them into the bag—a lot more work for the householder, ii not for the dustman. This bag is attached by a holder to the wall of her white weatherboard home, and this wall is badly discoloured by ashes being tipped into the bag. When the bags are left outside, not everyone is careful to tie them, and dogs and cats have a Held day. 1 have seen numbers of bags opened and rubbish all over the footpath. Will the dustmen clean this up? 1 hope, as a ratepayer, that we get a chance to have some say in .the matter.— Yours, etc., IRATE HOUSEWIFE. July 9, 1968.
