Two Killed In Collision

A boy was killed and a married woman died later in hospital after a collision between two cars at 10 p.m. on Saturday, about eight miles south of Waimate on State Highway 82.

Three other persons were admitted to the Timaru Hospital suffering from concussion, the Press Association reports. Those killed were

David Charles Hamilton Verity, aged 8, of Waihao Forks, Waimate, and

Mrs Anne Elizabeth Mcllraith, aged 42, of Hakataramea.

The boy, who was found dead at the scene of the accident, was in a car with his parents, John Wilson Kellapd Verity and Flora Leonie Verity, both of whom were taken on the 40-mile ambulance dash to the Timaru Hospital. Mrs Mcllraith, who was in the other car with her husband, John Douglas Mcllraith, died later at the Timaru Hospital. DOWN BANK A man was killed and his wife suffered head injuries when the car he was driving plunged 50 feet down a bank after it left the Waipori Gorge Road at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday. The man was Edward Lawrence Boyes, aged 44, a fitter, who was returning to his home at Waipori, 36 miles from Dunedin.

Dunedin Public Hospital where her condition last night was described as satisfactory. NAME GIVEN The police have released the name of the man who was killed when he was struck by two cars on the main highway near the Te Aute Hotel, on Friday night. He was Beta Mita, aged 65, a shearer, married, of Te Hauke. LEFT ROAD A middle-aged man died when the- car he was driving left the north-western Auckland motorway about 10 p.m. on Friday and plunged into the sea. He was Robert Bruce Howard, of Hula Road, Point Chevalier. AUCKLAND TOLL A man died in Auckland Hospital yesterday afternoon from injuries suffered when he was struck by a car on the corner of Franklin Road and Ponsonby Road early in the morning. He was George Taylor, of 40 Summer Street, Ponsonby. A man died when his bicycle and a car collided on the corner of Clevedon Road and Cosgrove Road just after 6 p.m. yesterday. He was William Tate, aged 64, of Clevedon Road, Papakura.
