Obituary Mr F. Langford

Mr F. Langford died from a heart attack in Waimate yesterday. Mr Langford was a member of a widely-known and respected Southland racing family. He spent most of his life in Winton where he became successful as a rider and later as a trainer. A few years ago he moved to Waimate.

One of the best horses trained by Mr Langford was San Quentin, which won the Enfield Hack Steeplechase and the Hunt Cup Steeplechase at the Grand National meeting In 1951. Mr Langford was the father of the top-class jumping rider, B. J. Langford, who was killed in a race fall at Tauherenikau F. J. Langford ; un„ and R. Langford, who trained with some success at Waimate for Mr C. E. Leighton.
