Linguistic work in the department is primarily concerned with Oceanic Linguistics, and the holder of the position will be expected to specialise in New Guinea 'Papuan) Linguistics, and to be familiar with one further branch of Oceanic Linguistics. He will be expected to carry out and supervise research in these fields. Previous Linguistic fieldwork experience in Oceania, preferably New Guinea, is essential, and preference will be given to candidates whose interests include interdisciplinary approaches. The salary range of a Research Fellow is 3A5400-8A7250 per annum. Appointment is usually for three years with a possible extension to five years.
