Report On Coal Find By Silver Valley

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyriffht) SYDNEY, July 5. The boom Australian mining company Silver Valley today released details of “substantial” coal deposits in northern New South Wales which the company expects to export. A detailed report from the

company’s coal director (M G. Griffiths) says that 70m to 80m tons of extractable coal is on the Mawson estate in which Silver Valley has a 60 per cent interest. The company also reported good progress on a new harbour being built near the coalfield to take ships of up to 40,000 tons. Mr Griffiths returned here this week from an overseas trip which took him to Britain, South Africa and Pakistan. He held discussions with a number of interested groups, said the report. The report continued: “negotiations for long-term contracts for the sale of coal in the Mawson project are in progress and a further statement will be made when these are completed.”
