Criticism In Parliament (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 5. A Labour member of Parliament today accused the Government of indiscriminately slowing the building programme, and described this as “foolhardy and creating a problem which would take years to overcome.” Speaking during the Ad-dress-in-Reply debate in Parliament, Mr W. A. Fraser (Lab., St Kilda) said that building permits for the year ended March, 1968, had fallen s6om, but the demand for housing had increased. The Minister of Housing (Mr Rae) replied that while he had been Minister, since 1961, more houses and flats had been built than in any similar period in the history of the country.
