WOMAN FELL TO DEATH

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. July 5. A police party found the body of a woman at the base of the 505 ft Paritutu Rock, near the New Plymouth port, at 8.20 a.m. today. She was Mrs Rita Catherine Hawkins, aged 55, of Lorna Street, New Plymouth. The police said she had fallen 60ft down the seaward face of Paritutu Rock. There was no evidence of foul play. The search began yesterday afternoon when Mrs Hawkins was reported missing by her husband, Mr N. A. Hawkins, who had left his wife in a parked car while he went to climb the rock.
