One of the form horses in the second leg, the Hughes Handicap. is Bijali, which won the corresponding event a year ago under 7-8. She has 8-9 this time. In the intervening 12 months she has won sprints at Awapunl and Waverley. If the weather is clear and the track not too heavy, Prince Hagen could be the hardest to beat. For he has 14 sprint wins to his name and only 8-8 to carry. This is the weight with which he scored his latest success, in the Booth’s Handicap at Woodville in January.
