Plant For Insulation (N.Z. Pres* Association) AUCKLAND, May 12. An American firm has sold the only external pipe-coating plant available for immediate delivery from the United States to the New Zealand firm which has the contract for coating and wrapping the pipes in the Kapuni gas line. Mr A. K. Barlow, director of the Armorcote Corporation, of Odessa, Texas, which sold the plant, said it cost a substantial amount. McConnell Dowell Ltd, of Auckland, won the contract in March with a tender of $694,096.
The plant can coat and wrap up to three miles of pipe less than 12 inches in diameter in a day. The plant will arrive in New Zealand in three or four weeks. Mr Barlow said American technicians would come with the plant to set It up, put it into use and. train New Zealand staff.
