Girl Dies, Eight Hurt

A 17-year-old girl was killed and eight other teen-agers injured, some seriously, when two cars collided head on in the main street of Hamilton, about 2.30 a.m. yesterday. The girl was Miss Sandra Cook, of Odette Street, Hamilton. Six of the eight persons injured were admitted to the Waikato Hospital, some suffering extensive head and body injuries, the Press Association reports. The car in which Miss Cook was killed was driven by Wayne Michael Goodley, aged 16, of Hamilton. The driver of the other car involved was John Cabrine Dykzeul, aged 18, of Auckland. Two Killed Two persons were killed and a third seriously injured on Maunu Road, Wbangarei, about midnight on Friday. Those killed were Miss Gat! Lynette Mcßeth, aged about 18, of Kokopu, and Dennis William Freer, aged 20, a bridge builder, of 87 George Street, Hikurangi. Head Injuries A man who suffered severe head injuries in a car accident south of Whangarei a little more than a week ago, died in the Whangarei Hospital yesterday. He was Denis John Probst, aged 24, of 27 Apirana Avenue, Glen Innes. Mr Probst was one of four men injured when their car struck the side of the Mata bridge.
