Protests In Rome
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ROME. May 12. About 3000 Left-wing students, protesting against alleged police brutality, marched round the Rome University campus yesterday, chanting “Fascists.” Hundreds of police in lorries surrounded the university and the American Embassy, which has been a frequent target of anti-Vietnam war demonstrations.
The strong security precautions were taken because of fears that Communists would incite violence and try to discredit the centre-Left Government before Italy’s general elections on May 19.
