S. AFRICAN TOUR
Lions “Best Prepared”
(N.Z. Pre., As,n.—Copyright) EASTBOURNE.
The British Lions to tour South Africa during the next three months will be the bestprepared squad to leave Britain, the team manager, Mr D. Brooks, said yesterday.
Mr Brooks and the assistant manager, R. Dawson, a former Irish captain, have spent the season discussing tactics with people who have experienced South African conditions.
At its first full training session yesterday the team used South African balls specially flown over to sharpen their handling. The session was mainly concerned with fitness rather than tactics. The Lions plan to hold another full session today and a light work-out on Sunday morning before leaving for London airport. The Lions will open their 20-match tour against West Transvaal on. May 18.
