LAMB CARGO SENT BACK

A consignment of fresh chilled lamb sent by air from Christchurch to Melbourne on Friday morning was not able to be unloaded in Australia because of the ban on the import of meat from New Zealand.

The lamb was taken to Auckland where the aircraft was returning. The consignment was about a ton and a quarter. It bad come from the North Canterbury Sheepfarmers’ Freezing Company at Kaiapoi and had been sold to a broker. The manager of the company, Mr W. D. The North Canterbury Sheepfarmers’ Freezing Company would also have sent more lamb today. The district manager of Air New Zealand in Christchurch, Mr H. K. Ford, said yesterday that*Hb charge was made for cancellation of space.
