Narrow Lead In Dragons
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. In what officials termed one of the most exciting yacht races they had seen, Pieces of Eight, skippered by L. K Davidson, won the second of the Olympic Dragon class trials off Torbay yesterday. After brilliant tactics halfway through the race Davidson gained a clear lead which he held to the end. Amanda (R. L. Stewart), Samurai (J. Grant), Komutu (R. Stone) and Barco Del Oro (D. Brown) dashed for the line in a battle for second place, Stewart succeeding by ssec. Davidson now has a narrow points lead in the seven-race series. He has 5.7 points, Stone 8, Brown 13, Stewart 15, Grant 17.7 and D. Green 19.7. Results:
