EVANS BACK IN REP. SQUAD

The former Canterbury soccer captain, G. Evans, who has not played for the province Since the end of the 1965 season, is available for selection again this season.

Evans Is included in the 17 man squad named yesterday by the provincial coach, Mr R C. Carter, for matches this season. The first will be against Wellington at the Basin Reserve on Queen’s Birthday Monday. Canterbury is also due to play Otago in the South Island section Of the English F.A. Trophy, on a home-and-away basis, on September 14 Ind 21. Evans’ decision has come at an opportune time for Canterbury, which has lost last season’s captain, K. France, who recently broke an ankle in two places and would not be fit by Queen's Birthday. Another player who has returned to the squad 16 the Rangers player coach, T.
