Lyster (Petone) yesterday: rode one of the fastest 100 I miles recorded in New Zealand | when he won the pre-Olympic. cycling trial in 3hr 45min 43sec i at Otaki. 1 Lyster and D. R. Thomson ‘ (Poneke) broke away from the , bunch with 18 miles to go, and when Thomson punctured five' miles out, Lyster was left on * his own for a splendid win. H. Kent (Poneke) was sec- J end, just ahead of Thomson. B Bate (Palmerston North) and D. I Brown (New Plymouth).
