Poppy Sales Down
Sales of poppies in Christchurch for the Returned Services Association’s welfare and benevolent fund had reached $4574 when counting finished last night. This was $9BO less than at the same time last year, although the final figure would not be known for about a month, said the secretary of the association (Mr F. Bar ron). The public had responded well to the appeal, but probably had not been in a position to give as generously as in the past, Mr Barron said. Just over 270 collectors took part.
