Laramie To Resume In Otaki Sprint

“The Press” Special ServicePALMERSTON NORTH. Awapuni’s leading stayer, Laramie, now a six-year-old and looking just as fit as ever, will resume racing at Otaki today in the Taipua Handicap, second leg of the Otaki Maori Racing Club’s T A B. double. He could have trouble winning, but he is sure to attract interest on his favourite track. In the corresponding race a year ago, Laramie commenced a fresh campaign with 8-6 and gave a good account of himself. He finished a bold third to Bostock and Rashid, then went on to win the Connolly Handicap at Wanganui three starts later. Laramie has invariably raced well fresh. In spite of Laramie’s class the probable favourites for today’s race are Hagen’s Pleasure, Jane Blithe and Tracey. The popular fancies in the first leg, the Ta Timi Kara Handicap, are Goldy Boy, Stop Press and Mammoth. The track will be easy.
