No Immediate Increase I (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 18. I The Prime Minister (Mr I Holyoake) said tonight that no proposals were before the' Government for increasing New Zealand’s military forces in Malaysia and Singapore. He was commenting on a report that the Australian Army Minister (Mr Lynch) had said that the expansion of Australian Army units in Malaysia and Singapore was being considered. “The effect of the British withdrawal from South-East Asia is being studied by the Government and by its military advisers,” said Mr Holyoake. Mr Holyoake said he hoped to make a statement soon on who would represent New Zealand at the five-nation talks in Kuala Lumpur in June on the future defence arrangements for Malaysia and Singapore. He has previously said that he hopes to represent New Zealand at the talks, but has not committed himself.
