COURSES IN DRIVING
Assistance To Elderly Courses designed to bring elderly drivers up to date with changes in the traffic regulations and to help them to cope with present traffic conditions have been organised by the Transport Department. Each year drivers who have reached the age of 70 must undertake a practical driving test. The courses are free. Each course is complete in itself. The first course will be held at the Riccarton Town Hall, Clarence Street, at 2 p.m. on April 22. On April 24 courses will be held at 2 p.m. in the Fendalton Community Centre, the Hei Hei Community Centre, and the Curries Road Community Centre, and a course will be held in the Curries Road Community Centre at 10 a.m. the same day. Another course will be held at the Fendalton Community Centre at 2 p.m. on April 26, and on April 29 courses will be held at 2 p.m. at the Kaiapoi Borough Council Chambers, the St John Ambulance Hall, Rangiora, and the Lyttelton Borough Council Chambers. On May 1 a course will be held in the Community Centre at Leeston at 2 p.m., and on May 2 a course will be held in the Springston Hall at 2 p.m.
