RECREATION RESERVE
Objections To Proposal Plans by the Waimairi County Council to change the zoning on-about 1000 acres of foreshore between North Beach and Spencerville to reserve it for recreation had attracted nine objections when the time for receiving them closed yesterday. “They are all individual objections, from people who have held land there for many years,” said the council's town-planning officer (Mr M. R. Parker). “We had no objection from the City Council, and the Lands and Survey Department has suggested that we should be taking a deeper strip along the foreshore.” The county chairman (Mr D. B. Rich) said that the council hoped to meet objectors to see if matters could be resolved without the need for a formal town-planning hearing.
