Girl To Leave College After Rules Violation
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, April 19. A 20-year-old college student, who caused a furore when school officials discovered she was living with her boy-friend, said yesterday she would leave the college. “I’m very confused about the whole situation right now,” Miss Linda Leclair said, “I’m just not sure what we’ll do.” She said she would leave Barnard College and her boyfriend, a Columbia University sociology student, Peter Behr, aged 20, would also stop attending classes. Last month it was found that the pair were living together in a SUSIOO a month apartment against college rules. | Yesterday, a student faculty
committee recommended that Miss Leclair lose campus privileges for violating college housing rules. Her expulsion was not recommended, although the final decision rested with the college president, Miss M. Peterson. Miss Leclair said that she had stopped attending classes three weeks ago. She said she had not been able to obtain her parents’ permission to officially leave Barnard College, but she added that she would not attend classes there. Mr Behr said he last attended classes two weeks ago and planned to drop out formally: he had lost interest in school. He said he faces a possible prison term for turning in his draft card last year.
