“THE PRESS” SHIELD
Tapawera Team Wins The Tapawera District High School’s rifle team has won “The Press” Shield for 19671968. The trophy is competed for annually by rifle teams of cadet units. Although Air Training Corps cadets have in the past been members of winning teams, it is the first time in the South Island that a winning team has been all A.T.C. members. Given by the Christchurch Press Company in 1917, the shield and silver medals for each team member will be presented in the school assembly room hall next Wednesday by the director of studies at the Airman Cadet School, Woodbourne (Squadron Leader W. R. Swap). The Tapawera District High School is in the Motueka river valley. The leading five teams with their scores (possible 100) are:—Tapawera, 95.3: Nelson College, 95; Marlborough College, 94.8: King’s College, Dunedin, 92.6; and St Andrew’s College, 90.2. Another shield given by “The Press” is awarded to the best cadet rifle team in the North Island. The winner lis not yet known.
