Laramie Fit For Otaki

Laramie has made rapid progress in the last week and his final gallop at Awapuni yesterday morning was good enough to give him a chance in the Taipua Handicap at Otakl tomorrow. No rider has been engaged for the top-weight, but it Is possible that a local apprentice able to claim 71b will have the mount. On the course proper, which was easy after overnight rain, Laramie beat Wilma Rudolph by two lengths over five furlongs in Imin 7sec, the last three furlongs In 38SOC. Royal Admiral, whose form merits a good chance In the Jumpers’ Fist at Otakl, ran an easy mile, the last five furlongs In Imin 12sec. Gymkhana took 53|sec for half a mile, the last three furlongs in SOsec. On the inside trial, Langolihe did well to run half a mile tn 49 3-ssec, the last three furlongs In 37 3-ssec. She seems well forward to resume In the Pukehou Hack Handicap.
