STOCK LOSS LIGHT
(N.Z. Press Association) GORE, April 18. Stock losses in the Easter week-end flooding were much below the first estimates, the Department of Agriculture in Gore has found after a survey of the Mataura Valley from Cattle Flat, near Balfour, to Wyndham. Losses in West Otago are reported to be light. The department now estimates that fewer than 900 sheep perished in West Otago and in the area surveyed in the Mataura Valley. Cattle confirmed as lost numbered 30 this morning and all were drowned on one property.
