FENDALTON LIBRARY
Suspension Of Services Because the resources of the small staff were being overtaxed, she had suspended the request and reserves services, said the librarian (Mrs T. McArtney), in a report to the Waimairi County Council last evening. After referring to the rapid growth of demands on the Fendalton library, she said the demand for children’s books had developed beyond the capacity of voluntary helpers. The staff had graduallv taken over as much as possible, but were now falling behind. “We are in urgent need of a children's librarian,” said Mrs McArtney. She asked that she be relieved of routine tasks so that she could do the work tor which she was appointed, to plan for the proposed series of libraries to be built in the county.
