Old Flint Pistol Found

AUCKLAND, April 16. A rusty flint pistol, thought to be at least 100 years old, was found on Waiheke Island on Sunday. Cecil Tong, aged 13, of Makora Avenue, Oneroa, and his friend, Robert Stoop, of Sandy Bay, found the pistol while searching for a knife they had dropped among the roots of t pohutukawa tree at Little Oneroa. The pistol has a barrel 12in long and a short, thick, heavy handle. All metal parts are well rusted, but the woodwork is well preserved. though darkened with age.
