Wool Returns Down In Aust.

SYDNEY, April 16. Australian wool sale returns are down by s4om, compared with this time last season. And this, in spite of an increase of 268,019 in the number of bales sold in the nine months ended March. The lower returns for more wool sold are shown in figures released today by the National Council of Woolselling Brokers, which show that to the end of March, Australia sold 3,843,003 bales of greasy and scoured wool by auction for $498,159,224. This compares with 3,574,984 bales realising $538,653,927 in the nine months ended March, 1967. The lower returns result from a fall of 10 cents per lb in average values, to 41.11 c.
