Compensation For Damage
(N Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 17. Owners of the three houses most affected by subsidence of a section of the Dunedin motorway will receive $20,000 in compensation. The National Roads Board unanimously decided this today after hearing that the owners could not claim from the Earthquake and War Damage Commission. Moving that $20,000 be allocated for reinstatement or replacement of the houses, the Minister of Works (Mr Allen) said the board bad an obligation to be reasonable.
The grant was made without prejudice to any more claims.
