AUCKLAND. The hopes of F. R. Christian (Auckland) winning selection for the New Zealand Rugby league team this year were dealt a severe blow yesterday when* he was told by a specialist that he had a ruptured ligament of the left leg and would be out of football for the next six weeks. Christian retired hurt in a Northern Zone trial game at Carlaw Park on Sunday. He will enter hospital as soon as possible for an operation. Christian has had a notable career in international Rugby league. Since he first won a Kiwi jersey in 1965. he has represented his country in tests 13 times, mainly on the wing.
