Lyatoshinsky Dies In Kiev
(N ZPA.-Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, April 16. Boris Lyatoshinsky, the Ukrainian symphonic composer who won official acclaim after the death of Joseph Stalin, has died in Kiev, aged 73. Lyatoshinsky was exceptional among Ukrainian composers, writing symphonic works rather than vocal music based on folklore. In 1948 he was criticised by the Ukraine Communist Party for writing works with “antipopular formalist tendencies.”
