The Shell Company has made significant oil findings near Miri, in Sarawak, in what could be the first signs of a Malaysian oil boom, the Malaysian Minister of Lands and Mines (Abdul Rahman YaAcub) said today. Several other companies, including Japanese and French, are interested in concessions in the area. The Minister was speaking to reporters after a ceremony at which two American oil companies received exploration rights to more than 52.000 square miles of-contin-ental shelf off the east coast of West Malaysia. Mr E. C.
