Volante Fast In sf. Sprint

Volante came Into otrong reckoning for the Canterbury Jockey Club's Autumn Nursery Handicap today with a fast five-furlong sprint on the trial grass at Riccarton yesterday morning. Ridden by her race rider, A. J. Stokes, she sped over five furlongs in Imin 2 l-ssec, the last four in 49 l-ssec and the final three in 37 3-ssec The attractive Southlandowned Denagh filly blew after the gallop, and if anything counts against her at the end of six furlongs in today’s race it will be her lack of recent racing. Volante made a spectacular winning debut at Invercargill on January 3 and has not raced since. Sir Limond left no doubts about his fitness for the Dominion Handicap today by sprinting six furlongs in Imin 18 2-ssec. In doing so he finished three lengths clear of

Tigris Note quickly went clear of Beit Meri and won their half mile trial by a length and a half tn 52 4-ssec Tigris Note started another campaign promisingly with a minor placing at Rangiora last time out and she may take beating in the Autumn Nursery Handicap today.
