Health Defeats Pensioner Plan
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 16. A plan by an Otara pensioner, Mr F. A. Williams, to unite pensioners in a national federation to fight for better conditions for old people from the Government and local bodies has been abandoned. Mr Williams, aged 65, a former trade union official, has had to drop the plan because of ill health. He said he was upset that none of the 400 persons who had pledged support would form a committee to keep It going.
Back On Air.—Radio Hauraki started broadcasting again at 6 p.m. on Sunday after repairs to the radio ship. Tiri 11, which had been damaged in a recent stbrm.— (P.A.).
