Shooter’s Record Score Of 598
(N.Z. Press Association) LEVIN. B. Lacey, of Levin, has equalled the world record in outdoor rifle shooting and set a New Zealand record by scoring 598 out of 600 at a distance of 50 metres. He did this last week-end at the second North Island trials for the Olympic Games, held at Putaruru. The official world record
which Lacey equalled was set by an American at the world championships in Western Germany in 1966. Lacey won a silver medal at the 1966 Commonwealth Games and has held the Levin club championship for a number of years. The New Zealand trials will be held in Christchurch in three weeks time and in Featherston in five weeks time.
