Cup Final Sought
The president of the Canterbury Football Association (Mr T. C. Gottermeyer) is “reasonably confident” Christchurch will be the venue of the Chatham Cup final this year. Mr Gottermeyer told the C.F.A. management committee last evening: “A lot will depend on whether the Wellington executive members are given a free hand to decide the venue.” They are likely to vote for the retention of the Basin Reserve as the venue of the final. A council meeting of the N.Z.F.A. will make its decision this week-end. Mr Gottermeyer will attend the meeting. “We are trying to promote football in the South Island, but the North Island gets all the plums,” said Mr F. Ford.
