Magistrate’s Court

Joseph Floyd Wray, aged 74, a retired farmhand, was charged with the attempted murder of Desmond Arthur Langstone Hamilton on April 14 when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Messrs R. Jones and C. H. Clemens, Justices of the Peace. On the application of Detective Sergeant N. J. Stokes, Wray was remanded under section 37 of the Mental Health Act till May 13. Fned $4 John Woodham, aged 50, a farm labourer, pleaded guilty to a charge that on April 14 he was found unlawfully in a dwelling-house. He was convicted and fined $4. Detective Sergeant Stokes said that Woodham had previously stayed at the house, but when found in it he had had no authority to be there.
