AUST. LOSES NEW PLANE
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright! CANBERRA, April 12. The Royal Australian Air Force has lost one of its new four-engined Orion maritime reconnaissance aircraft in a training accident at the Moffett air naval station, California. The s3m plane was practising circuits and landings when the port undercarriage collapsed. The crew escaped but fire destroyed the plane. The Orion was one of three being prepared for a delivery flight from the United States to Edinburgh, South Australia. A court of inquiry has been convened.
