Assailant Deterred
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 15. I When a man tried to snatch 1 her handbag in Park Road, Grafton, on Saturday evening, an elderly woman beat him with her umbrella so hard that its shaft bent. Her assailant ran off without the handbag. Two men who came to her assistance chased the attacker for some distance before losing him. The woman, Mrs M. Hamilton, aged 69, of Paihia, was taken to Auckland Hospital where she was treated for shock, and later allowed to return to . the motel where
