Scarcity Of Jockeys
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. Holiday racing overtaxed the supply of jockeys at Feilding on Saturday. At the Feilding Jockey Club’s autumn meeting last Saturday no fewer than 12 of the 19 starters in the Feilding Cup carried overweight which amounted to more than 821 b. The worst affected were Chevllle, which carried 1511 b over her correct weight, and High Sky, whose book weight was exceeded by a stone. Both were unplaced. Also, it was necessary for 10 jockeys to ride twice In the Taonui Nursery Handicap. With two divisions run, there were insufficient riders available to service the 29 horses starting Those who rode in each divi slon were J. F. Harris, D. With ington, N. G. Constable, K. E. Reggett, M. R. Campbell, K. Roh loff, R. B. Marsh, J. A. Messent. L K. Tinsley and F. Outen.
