Judoka Of The Year
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. C. Roberts (Lower Hutt) was last evening named the national judoka of the year, at a meeting of the New Zealand Judo Federation in Auckland. Roberts, aged 22, was chosen from six other nominees. Officials took two hours to decide between the top two nominees. The first New Zealand judoka of the year, Roberts won the national light middle-weight title at the championships on Saturday. Last year, he represented New Zealand at the world championships In Salt Lake City, and 15 months ago he went to the Oceania contest In Australia.
