Ashburton Wins Polo
Ashburton A gained recompense for being the beaten finalist in 1966 and 1967 when it won the Lochiel Cup at the Amuri Easter polo tournament at the week-end. It beat Ashley A, 10-2. Because of the weather and heavy ground, the final was played early in the day. In spite of the atrocious condtions, Ashburton produced some fine polo. J. Askin, who scored five goals, was the out-
standing player for Ashburton, but the feature of Ashburton’s display was the fine combination and horsemanship of the team. Waimale won the Upper Highfield plate, beating Amuri B. 3-2, tn the final. The handicap section was won by Amuri A. which defeated Ashley B. 14-12. Results were: Lochiel Cup for Senior Open. —First round: Ashley A 4. Amuri 1: Ashburton 9. Geraldine 2.
