Damage At Hutt Park

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The Wellington Trotting Club’s May meeting may have to be abandoned because of storm damage. Yesterday the racecourse was a shambles, with roofing and timber strewn in all directions. The club’s 120,000 administration block, which has been in use for only two months, is considered by the secretary of the club (Mr T. W. Marwick) as almost a write-off. He safd about four furlongs of the corrugated fencing round the track had either gone or was unsafe. Sections of the roofs of the Armstrong stand, and the stewards’ and members’ stands have blown away, and the ambulance room has suffered extensive damage. The doubles indicator of the totalizator has disappeared and the roof has gone from the judge’s box. He said he was attempting to call a special meeting of the club today to discuss the damage and the prosoects of proceeding with the May meeting. CANTERBURY TROTTING !
