Relief Funds Granted

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 12. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Seath) today authorised the payment of an initial $5OOO grant from lottery profits for immediate assistance to the survivors, and dependents of those who lost their lives in the Wahine disaster. He also announced that the Shipwreck Relief Society of New Zealand was contributing an initial $5OOO for immediate relief. The Red Cross Society has agreed to administer both contributions and any other donations that organisations for individuals wish to make. An immediate, initial grant of $5OOO has been made available by the Shipwreck Relief Society of New Zealand after the foundering of the Wahine.
