INQUIRIES STARTED

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 12. The taking of depositions in the preliminary inquiry into the sinking of the Wahine would continue during the week-end, the Secretary of Marine (Mr R. N Kerr) said tonight. Crew members were interviewed on Thursday and depositions would be taken from passengers. No date for the full inquiry had yet been set but it was hoped to hold it within two months. The Minister of Marine (Mr Scott) has ordered a full marine court of inquiry into the disaster. The ship’s log from the Wahine was picked up saturated on the east side of the harbour. Chief Superintendent J. W. Saunders said.
