Ashburton Dog Show

Miss M. T. Barker * cocker spaniel. Captain of Inverloch, waa the best dog in the show when the Ashburton Kennel Association held its fourth autumn championships. There were 258 dogs entered and these made an overall entry of 529. Owners came from throughout Canterbury. The reserve best-in-the-show was Mrs F. H. West’s pug, Scarborough Clay, and the best puppy was a miniature poodle, Sebastian La Roche, owned by Mesdames J. M. G. Cole and Y. E. Anderson.

Mrs M. E. Forester, of Havelock North, judged the hound, gundogs, terrier, and sheep and cattle dog groups and Mrs C. L. Ridgen. of Christchurch, judged the non-sporting and toy dogs. Mr E. A. Hopkins, also of Christchurch, judged the best dog in the show.

The challenge and best-of-breed winners in the various groups were as follows: —
