Time Trial By Halwes

SYDNEY. The champion Australian pacer. Halves, will be sent against time over one mile after competing In the three feature races at next month’s Harold Park Easter carnival. This was announced yesterday by the New South Wales Trotting Club’s manager (Mr L. Smith) who said the record attempt would be made either on April 28 or May 3. The present record is held by Ribands, who recorded Imin 58 7-lOsec in a time trial at Harold Park In 1954.
Halwes bettered this when he won the recent Miracle Mile tn Imln 58 3-ssec, but K. Newman. his driver, is confident he will go even faster In a speci-ally-paced time trial. Mr Smith said Helwes’ owners would receive a minimum of 3200 if the Tasmanian broke Ribands' record.
