ADVICE FOR CITIZENS
Plan To Set Up Bureau In its move to form a Citizens Advice Bureau, the Christchurch Junior Chamber is sending letters to community organisations in Christchurch to attract their interest
It plans to convene a meeting in May of organisations whose support would be necessary if the bureau were to realise its full potential.
The bureau would be modelled on similar bureaux in other cities throughout the world. They are centrally placed, staffed by volunteers, and financially supported by local authorities, and give free information, advice and guidance to all. They do not give monetary help, nor take over any of the functions or services provided by other organisations or by the professions. The bureau would be a clearing-house for the private problems of the public, the Christchurch Junior Chamber's letter says.
