OLYMPIC GAMES
Fresh Calls On 1.0. C. (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LAUSANNE (Switzerland), March 12. The International Olympic Committee is facing mounting pressure to call a special plenary session to discuss South African participation in the Mexico Olympic Games.
Three members of the ninestrong 1.0. C. executive commission have written demanding the meeting—Mr Konstantin Andrianov, of the Soviet Union, Mr Giorgio de Stefani, of Italy, and Mr Gabriel Gemayel, of Lebanon. Their letters follow a similar demand, on Saturday, by Count Jean de Beaumont, president of the French Olympic Committee. A fourth member of the executive commission. General Pedro Flores, of Mexico, who is in Chicago with Mr Avery Brundage, the 1.0.C.'s president and chairman of the commission, is pressing Mexico’s demand for an emergency session to discuss the mass boycott that threatens to reduce the Mexico Games to a mini-Olympics.
