Mr Nordmeyer’s Retirement
Sir, —The attempt by “D. H. C.” and “Disillusioned Nationalist” to whitewash the industrial wing of the Labour Party and the Federation of Labour in the deposing of Mr Nordmeyer as leader will fool nobody. The former member for Napier, Mr Edwards, openly complained of dominance from these quarters in influencing committees and was soon expelled from the Labour Party—without a trial. Mr Nordmeyer was one Labour M.P. (if not the only one) who stood up for Mr J. A. Lee at the time of his expulsion, knowing that Mr Lee was the victim of a trumped-up charge. The withholding of the leadership of his party for so long from Mr Nordmeyer might have been largely because of his action then. A book written by Mr Nordmeyer will be awaited with Interest.— Yours, etc., DISILLUSIONED LABOURITE.
